Creativity & Memory: September 23, 2023

Visitors to the Mission Community Archives Creativity & Memory event discovered how the archives play a role in memory, learning and creation. They were able to watch and interact with local artist Sandra Marshall who was working on a painting based upon a 1970s photograph of Mission’s Dairy Queen on First Avenue – present day site of Tim Hortons. Local emerging writer Charis Young, read and discussed how she had created poems about the 1948 flood in Mission using archival records. Attendees were also able to create their own Mission Memory Collage using a variety of historic photographs from the Archives. View our photo gallery of the event featuring photographs by Bob Friesen.
